BIDET INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS
Before you have a bidet installed there are a couple of things you need to consider before making your final choice. There are two main styles of bidet that you can opt for: Either a Bidet seat or a bidet/douche sprayer, which is a hose and trigger sprayer type attachment.
Because of the complexities involved for your bidet seat or sprayer operate safely, it is imperative that an experienced plumber carry out the installation and that the products and installation comply with Australian Standards.
It is regulation for bidets and douche trigger sprayers to be installed with a high hazard backflow prevention device according to Australian Standards 3500 plumbing and drainage Section 4. This device helps by eliminating cross-contamination if back siphoning occurs within the property/area. The backflow protection required shall be determined by identifying the individual hazard(s) within the premises, in which case all bidets, and trigger sprayers are classified as a high hazard and require an RPZ Device. This device is to be registered with the water corp and be tested every 12 months.
So as you can see, having a bidet installed is not as simple as just removing your existing toilet seat and replacing it with a new bidet one. Our bidet specialist is more than happy to have a chat with you about your options, and what the best solution for you will be.
